A Dip into the Archives

One from our archives. We recently uncovered a set of slides in the stores which turned out to have pictures of local colliery locomotives. This is Dilhorne No.3, one of Holditch Colliery’s three steam locomotives. It’s a standard Austerity 0−6−0 saddle tank made by W. G. Bagnall, No. 2787 of 1945. This is a design built by several manufacturers for the war department to meet the country’s needs during the second world war.
