SUMMARY:AVLR: Mayor's Charity Day
DESCRIPTION:The AVLR are honoured to be supporting Councillor Robert Bettley-Smith and his chosen charity\, Papyrus. Papyrus works to prevent suicide amongst the young. Suicide is the main cause of death in people under the age of 35 in the UK. Every year more than 1\,800 young people take their own lives. Papyrus provides confidential support and advice through their helpline HOPELINE247 – call 0800 068 4141\, text 88247 or e-mail pat@papyrus-uk.org. Lines are open 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year. DESCRIPTION:Fancy joining the railway team? Would you like to know about volunteering at Apedale Valley Light Railway? Wonder no more; April 25  is the date for your diary. On this day\, they will be running New Member’s Day. This will be the day when you can along to Apedale Valley Light Railway and find out about becoming a member of the Moseley Railway Trust and helping to run and maintain the railway and all the things which go with it. There will be tours and talks covering the following areas: \n\nGeneral membership\nShop work\nRestoration/engineering\nRailway operations\n\nYou’ll be able to take a look behind the scenes\, and have a go (under supervision!) at jobs like driving locos and being a train Guard. If you sign up for Trust membership on this day\, your membership will run through to the end of 2027! Events will run from 1100 until 1500. If you are interested\, please register beforehand by sending an e-mail to operations@avlr.org.uk and letting them know what area of the Trust’s work you may be interested in. DESCRIPTION:Drive-It Day is a national event when owners of classic road vehicles are encourage to get them out where they belong – on the road. At Apedale\, we’re delighted to offer a destination for these classic vehicles – we’ve got tea\, toilets and steam trains – what could be better?
