Ready for the Bank Holiday!

28th April 2013

We've just put out the first batch of our newly renovated tables. I'm sure everyone will agree that a really nice job has been done on them. So we're all set for summer and just in time for the Bank Holiday. As usual we will be open with mine tours and the museum on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday. The AVLR will be running a steam service on Sunday and Monday, and diesel on Saturday. As if that wasn't enough, on the following weekend (11th-12th) there is a steam train and classic cars event.

Trains start running next week!

Next weekend marks the start of the new Apedale Valley Light Railway's 2013 season. Since it is the Easter weekend there will be a steam service on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and also an Easter egg hunt for the kids!

Merry Christmas!

As we draw to the end of a successful year, on behalf of the trustees I'd like to thank all of our volunteers, everyone who has supported us and of course everyone who has visited Apedale in 2012. We look forward to seeing you all in 2013. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year one and all.

Discover the lost industrial heritage of the Apedale Valley and the history of the surrounding area when you visit this unique attraction. We are located in North Staffordshire's Apedale Community Country Park in an area that was once an industrial powerhouse.

At weekends and Bank Holidays we offer tours of an authentic drift mine. And visit our museum to learn about the local industries and history.

The café is open every day so even if you are just passing you can drop in for a cuppa or to try some North Staffordshire Oatcakes, a speciality of the Potteries.

Ride the Apedale Valley Light Railway which is operated by our colleagues from the Moseley Railway Trust. The railway operates throughout Spring, Summer and Autumn. During the winter the railway takes a well earned break although there is a Santa Special Service each year. During the operating season, trains are run weekly on Saturdays with a monthly steam weekend.

Volunteering

If you are interested in helping out at either the centre or the Moseley Railway Trust then please drop us a line via the website. Alternatively, feel free to drop in one weekend for a chat. All you need is enthusiasm and a bit of spare time!
